Apple’s Game-Changing Smartwatch is Here.
As I have reported before, there have been a lot of rumors about Apple’s smartwatch. On September 9th, Apple finally put these rumors to rest and came out with the truth. As soon as this was announced, there was a huge applause with a standing ovation.
The Apple Watch, which is not called the “iWatch” or “iTime”, as previously predicted, has a stainless steel and sapphire screen, and it has a dial on the side for controls which they call the “Digital Crown”. The interface looks very different to other iDevices, sacrificing square icons for circular ones. The user can magnify the content using the dial, and the Digital Crown is the “home” button. For a small screen, it has haptic feedback and can tell the difference between a press and a touch, which will be very important when it comes to navigation with the Map program.
There is also a feature known as Glances which gives the user quick info with a swipe of a finger. By the way, Siri is built into the watch in case you are one of those people who will literally “talk to the hand”. Other features include four LED lenses, pulse-rate detector, gyroscope, and accelerometer. A lot of emphasis in the presentation shows the Apple Watch’s fitness applications, which means it is a fitness bracelet/fitness tracker as well as a smartwatch. On the back of the watch is a different type of charger.
In addition to all of these features, there are six different straps for customization, such as leather, polymer, metal mesh, and stainless steel. There is even an edition made of 18k gold. Now that’s classy! You can also customize the watch face so you can have Mickey Mouse tell you the time with his hands if you wish.
Apple called it “the most personal device we’ve ever created”. Considering what this company has produced, that is quite a boast. Apparently, the company has been working on this device for quite a while, but sadly, it won’t be available until February 2015. The price will start at £225/$349, and will work with the iPhone 5, 5S, 5C, as well as the recently announced iPhone 6 and 6 Plus.
