Hewlett-Packard is working on a luxury smartwatch and I’m guessing that means it will be very “elegant”. This means that it might not be very affordable to the typical consumer, but HP is partnering with a retailer known as Gilt to get this out there to the market.
This 44-millimeter stainless steel case was constructed by a renowned American designer Michael Bastian. As you can see, it has a circular face, sort of like the Moto 360. What you can’t see is that the HP watch has swappable bands: brown leather, black rubber, olive green nylon, and another limited edition black band.
The HP luxury smartwatch will feature notifications for email, text, calls, not to mention controls for music and other applications. The device is compatible with both Android and iOS devices, but it will not run Android Wear. Let’s hope that this will not be a dealbreaker for those who want to use Google’s wearable tear software.
Price and Launch Date
As I have said before, this looks to be a pretty high-end luxury product. I have no word on the price as yet, so it could be somewhere within the “astronomical” range. I also don’t have any word on the date of its release, only sometime in autumn 2014.
